I set up small studios because I saw a space for a different kind of agency; where the creative and client could sit down and discuss projects over coffee.
I see the benefits of working with clients directly, from concept to delivery, bringing designs that are engaging, intelligent, and budget-conscious.
My career path has been a little unconventional, and this has given me the unusual mix of creative flair and a reliable account management skills. After graduating from Oxford, I worked in non-creative roles alongside award winning creatives in commercial/music video production and publishing. I completed a postgraduate art degree before making the move into marketing, design and branding, including managing the Publications and Design department of a national charity.
In 2012 I set up my own design agency with the aim to bring affordable, quality design to start ups, SMEs and third sector organisations. My business has grown mostly through word of mouth. I think it speaks volumes that, after 7 years, I still work with my very first client.
For larger, or more complex jobs, I draw from a pool of great ‘small creatives’ to form teams of talented and trusted freelancers, hand-selected to suit each job.
I manage each team, ensuring the quality and personal service that our customers expect.
small studios is greater than the sum of our parts: we can be as big as the client needs us to be, without sacrificing quality or mounting up overheads. The creative and technical expertise of our small freelancers, coupled with our adaptable structure, means that we make our client’s budgets go further.
Lucie understands your requirements fully and will often produce artwork which is much more effective than what you had in mind. Lucie is organised, works in a methodical manner and is also very good at asking the right questions.Nila Patel | Victim Support
The vibrant colours and bold branding give the entire hostel a really animated feel. I especially loved the branding above each of the bunks. SoHostel & Lucie got it spot on!Review in www.thehostelgirl.com
Lucie did a fab job with the recent Ladbrokes creatives. She was able to turn the designs around really quick and at a very reasonable price! [Ladbrokes] love the overall look.Bianca Keeble | Shackleton PR
A creative and intelligent approach to design; translating our somewhat sketchy brief into a design that we are very excited about.Tina Hatch | Glenveagh Associates
Lucie was pro-active, creative, reliable and very helpful, providing useful advice well beyond the terms of her initial brief. Her professionalism and excellent communication skills made the whole experience both straightforward and satisfying. I would definitely use her services again.Sean Whyte | Clinical Director, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist and Honorary Senior Lecturer
Lucie has always displayed focus, determination and self-initiative, attention to detail and ability to understand our brand values. Her attention to detail and ability to understand our brand values and image were central to the success of Kayu's exhibition at London Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week.Jamie Lim | KAYU
I’ve worked with Lucie on several unique projects now and she continues to impress me. She is clearly talented - that is evident from her portfolio - but the level of service she has provided certainly exceeded our previous designers. She is pro-active in her ideas, generous with her advice (even outside of specific projects) and extremely reliable.Simon Scriver | Helping Good Charities Do Better Fundraising
Lucie is a great designer to work with, her ideas are great, she always takes great care with understanding the brief and her attention to detail is excellent. In short, I couldn’t recommend her more, its been the easiest and most productive designer relationship we have had to date.Stuart Waplington | Managing Director theprintspace
Lucie really ‘got’ us. The type and size of her organisation was a perfect fit for us, as she had enormous experience, but her organisation was small enough to really allow for a personal service and a real sense of intimacy.Jane Williams | Quaker Social Action
