I’m Lucie, the senior designer and creative director of small studios.

I set up small studios because I saw a space for a different kind of agency; where the creative and client could sit down and discuss projects over coffee.

I see the benefits of working with clients directly, from concept to delivery, bringing designs that are engaging, intelligent, and budget-conscious.

My career path has been a little unconventional, and this has given me the unusual mix of creative flair and a reliable account management skills. After graduating from Oxford, I worked in non-creative roles alongside award winning creatives in commercial/music video production and publishing. I completed a postgraduate art degree before making the move into marketing, design and branding, including managing the Publications and Design department of a national charity.

In 2012 I set up my own design agency with the aim to bring affordable, quality design to start ups, SMEs and third sector organisations. My business has grown mostly through word of mouth. I think it speaks volumes that, after 7 years, I still work with my very first client.

When small is not enough, we get bigger.

For larger, or more complex jobs, I draw from a pool of great ‘small creatives’ to form teams of talented and trusted freelancers, hand-selected to suit each job.

I manage each team, ensuring the quality and personal service that our customers expect.

small studios is greater than the sum of our parts: we can be as big as the client needs us to be, without sacrificing quality or mounting up overheads. The creative and technical expertise of our small freelancers, coupled with our adaptable structure, means that we make our client’s budgets go further.
